When I was younger, my favorite part about celebrating St. Patrick’s Day was that you could go to the bars at 9:00am in the morning and no one would blink an eye. (Today, in my 40s, that aspect still looks appealing, since I’m my best self in the morning.)
Nowadays, with two kids in tow, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day includes art projects, green-themed food, and tales of leprechauns. Since there has to be a happy medium, I set off to find some family-friendly events in Charlotte where the kids will have a blast…and in some cases, the grown-ups can revisit their youth with hints of St. Patrick’s Day of yore.
Saturday, March 8th:

Saturday, March 15th:
- St. Patrick’s Day Festival: There’s lots of things to do at this festival, including a dog show, vendors, a kid zone for playing, food, and a beer garden! Walnut Street to Town Square (Highway 321 and Bethel Street), Clover, SC from 10:00am-4:00pm
- Old Town St. Patrick’s Day Festival: Music, food, Irish dancing, beer, kids’ activities! City of Rock Hill Amphitheater from 12:00pm-7:00pm(144 Black St E, Rock Hill, SC 29730)
- Baxter Village Spring Fling and St. Patty’s Day Parade: Food, craft vendors, drinks, inflatables, classic bag pipes, and entertainment throughout the afternoon. The parade starts at 5:00pm and is perfect for families. Market Street in Fort Mill, SC from 2:00pm-6:00pm
