May is Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Month! Charlotte is celebrating our AAPI community with lots of fun, inclusive events. Add one (or all!) to your May calendar!
- Sunday, May 10th: 2026 Charlotte Cup National Chinese Poetry Recitation Contest – Final Round – Fullwood Theater in Matthews, NC from 1:00pm-7:00pm. Come support children from across the United States during this celebration of culture, pride, and youth voices. No RSVP required.
- Saturday, May 16th: 2026 Charlotte Asian Festival and Dragon Boat Festival at Ramsey Creek Park in Cornelius, NC from 9:00am-5:00pm. Performing arts, vendors, Dragon Boat race, and a cultural showcase. Free to attend; bring cash, as some vendors do not take credit cards.
- Saturday, May 16th and Sunday, May 17th: Charlotte Japan Fest from 12:00pm-9:00pm at Urban District Market. Matsuri games, martial arts performances, vendors, cosplay and karaoke contests, and more!
- Saturday, May 23rd: K-Pop Club Night (18+) at The Underground at the Fillmore Charlotte starting at 9:00pm. Tickets online!
