Tell us a little about yourself.
Hi! I’m Amy! I’m a wife, a mom of two amazing girls, a small business owner, and a pediatric speech language pathologist. I was born in Winston Salem, NC but grew up mostly in Dayton, OH. I attended Ohio University in Athens Ohio for both undergraduate and graduate school. Fun fact-I was a member of the Ohio University Dance Team for all four years of my undergraduate program and loved performing at the basketball and football games. Go Bobcats! I moved to Charlotte in 2006, right after I finished my Master’s program, and took my first job as a speech language pathologist. I met my husband, Ryan in 2012 and we got married in 2015. We currently live in Huntersville. When I’m not spending time with my family, or working, I love to find dance classes to attend, or take long walks with my dog, Ollie.
What are your favorite activities/restaurants in/around Charlotte?
One of my favorite places to visit in Charlotte is the Whitewater Center. This is the perfect place to have some adventure, enjoy the outdoors, and relax with friends and family! My husband and I both love going on date nights to Epic Chophouse in Mooresville. The food, service, and ambiance are top notch!

What are your child(ren)’s favorite things to do in Charlotte?
My oldest, Lilah, is a competitive gymnast so she spends a ton of time at Everest Gymnastics in Cornelius. When she isn’t busy with school or gymnastics, she loves going to Urban Air and Ninja Nation. My youngest, Maci, enjoys trips to Birkdale Village. We love going there as a family to listen to the live music on the green, and the girls always enjoy some TCBY!
What’s something new in the Charlotte area that you’d like to do this fall?
This Fall, we plan to try to Corn Maze at Latta for the first time. It’s not new to Charlotte, but will be new to us! We also always enjoy going to Patterson Farm for the playground, hayride, and some pumpkins.
Tell us about your business.
I am the owner of Full Bloom Speech Language Pathology located in Cornelius, NC. I have been a pediatric speech language pathologist for 19 years and just recently took the leap to start my own small private practice in July of 2024. Our practice provides pediatric speech language pathology services to children of all ages. We have a small team of three experienced SLP’s and we are passionate about helping children improve their communication skills. We are honored to work with so many amazing children and families in the Lake Norman area of Charlotte and we are currently accepting new clients.
What is the best piece of parenting advice you’ve received?
Everyone always says cherish every moment and stage with your children because it flies by. Sometimes this advice was frustrating to me when I was in the throws of babies and toddlers but it is so true. You cannot get any of the time or moments back, so I continue to try to be in the moment and cherish each stage.
Do you have a favorite podcast or TV show to recommend to our followers?
I don’t listen to too many podcasts unless they are related to my profession, but my husband and I love binge watching shows on Netflix. A few of our recent favorites are The Night Agent, and The Perfect Couple. I love short 30 minute laugh reruns before bed and have been re-watching How I Met Your Mother and Gilmore Girls.
