Meet a Mom: Jenny Litzelman of Merry Maids | Charlotte Moms Network

Jenny Litzelman of Merry Maids with her mom, Denise, one of the original owners.

Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Jenny Litzelman. I’m originally from Pennsylvania and moved to
Charlotte when I was 11. I went to Providence High School, then NC State for
my BA and MA,and then Wake Forest for my MBA. Love our North Carolina
schools! I’m a SMBC (Single Mom by Choice), and it’s the best decision I
ever made. I have a toddler named Phoebe, and an 8-year-old dog name Shay.

What are your favorite activities/restaurants in/around Charlotte?
I’m really into physical fitness so you can catch me at Training Camp Fitness in
NODA doing strength training classes and Ballantyne Run Club at The Bowl.
Both are great places to meet kind people looking to better themselves. I love
spending time at The Bowl whether it’s with friends or with my daughter. The
cappuccinos at Fly Kid Fly are fantastic, and North Italia and Postino are great for
a night out. The outdoor playground with slides and hammocks is hard to beat!

What are your child’s favorite things to do in Charlotte?
My daughter will be 2 in October, so we love going to Saturday Story Time at
SouthPark Regional Library and any playground. My favorite parenting hack for
rainy days is going to PetSmart to look at fish!

What’s something new in the Charlotte area that you’d like to do this summer?
I’d love to try puppy yoga classes or get out to the Whitewater Center with my daughter to
explore some trails!

Tell us about your business (When did you start your business? What types of services do
you provide? Where are you located? Any upcoming events?)
I’m a second-generation franchise owner. My family bought our Merry Maids franchise in
1995, and I came into the business when my father passed away 13 years ago. My mother
and I ran the business until she formally retired in 2019. We provide residential and small-
scale commercial cleaning services to clients in Mecklenburg and Union Counties, as well as
Fort Mill, SC. We provide weekly, biweekly, monthly, and one-time cleanings to our clients
and right now we are helping them get ready for back to school!

What is the best piece of parenting advice you’ve received?
The best parenting advice I’ve received is to take all advice with a grain of salt. Everyone
sincerely wants to help but what may work for one family may not work for another. Give
yourself grace and remember to practice selfcare. To take care of our children we have to
take care of ourselves.

Do you have a favorite podcast or TV show to recommend to our followers?
We love Ms. Rachel in our house! As a SMBC we watch Ms. Rachel in the mornings while I
get breakfast ready, fold laundry etc. Phoebe has learned so much already from Ms. Rachel.
I also love “Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce.” I’m a big football fan so I’ve always
enjoyed the Kelce family, but on this podcast Kylie keeps it real as a Mom to four and
empowers women to go easy on themselves, as we’re all doing our best!
