Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hi! My name is Kaitlynn and I am a nurse, mom and owner of The Mama Coach in Charlotte! I’m originally from Michigan, but I packed up and moved to Charlotte the day after I graduated from Michigan State (Go Green!)! I am married to my best friend and together we have 3 kiddos, 2 dogs and 9 chickens. I have been a nurse in the Emergency Department for over 10 years and thrive on the craziness and beautiful surprises in life!
What are your favorite things to do in/around Charlotte?
I absolutely love going on hikes with my family! We enjoy spending time outside and are always looking for new trails and lakes to visit! When I get the rare alone time I enjoy thrifting and eating delicious food.
What’s your favorite restaurant in the Charlotte area?
Oof that’s a hard one. Most of the restaurants we frequent at the moment are kid friendly, but I have been dying to try Supperland! We love Cowfish because it has something for everybody and my kids are obsessed with “Mommy Beans” (edamame)!
I can relate! Please tell us all about your business, The Mama Coach.
The Mama Coach is a team of nurses from all over the world that help to educate and support moms in every stage of motherhood. I started the Charlotte chapter when I was 9 months pregnant with my third baby, because, why not?! At that point I understood how crucial it was to have support before, during and after pregnancy and I wanted to use my nursing expertise to help support other moms in whatever ways possible. I offer private and group workshops in the Greater Charlotte Market and I specialize in Labor & Delivery, Breastfeeding, Newborn Care, Starting Solids, and Child & Infant CPR, Choking & AED Use.
I also host meet ups and events and my annual “It Takes A Village” event is happening on Saturday, April 26th! If you are expecting a baby or have little ones at home, you are not going to want to miss this! There will be a ton of perinatal and pediatric specialists, kids activities, giveaways, goody bags and so much more! Grab your FREE ticket before they’re gone!
What is the best piece of advice you can give other moms/other people starting a business?
If you have the passion and drive to succeed, you will. Don’t expect to launch your business and immediately have people lining up to see you! I have found that making community connections has been key to building my business. Plus, it’s a great way to meet other mom-owned business owners and make friends!
Before we let you go…do you have a favorite podcast or TV show to recommend to our followers?
Hmm, I’ll be honest-my husband and I spend more time looking for a show or movie that we agree on and once we finally decide, we fall asleep! One show that I absolutely love is Working Moms on Netflix-it’s hilarious and they definitely keep it real!!
