Women’s History Month in Charlotte, NC | Charlotte Moms Network

As moms (to two-legged and four-legged little ones), we know (or should know) how important mothers and women in general are.  During the month of March, there’s a little extra time devoted in celebrating Women’s History Month, as well as International Women’s Day on March 8th.

Charlotte, like other major cities in the United States, has devoted a variety of events to celebrating women.  Here’s a few:

  • Resident Culture’s International Women’s Day Celebration:  A two-day event (Friday, March 7th and Saturday, March 8th) that highlights the importance of women’s health.  There’s a comedy show on Friday, and on Saturday there’ll be an array of events, from a women’s health panel to music and women-owned businesses.   (Plaza Midwood, 2101 Central Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28205)
  • Harriet Tubman and the Importance of Swamps for Freedom Seekers:  Learn about how in tune Harriet Tubman was to nature, and how that assisted her in creating the Underground Railroad.  The lecture is led by historian Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander.  (Saturday, March 8th at 10:00am; 6345 Sample Road, Huntersville, NC)
  • No Man’s Land Festival:  In addition to celebrating women, there’ll be many ways (70+, to be exact) for you to support women-owned businesses at this South End event.  Photo ops, workshops, food, and more will also be available.  (Saturday, March 22nd from 11:00am-5:00pm; 1900 block of Camden Road, Charlotte, NC)
  • Women in Aviation Panel: Come listen to a group of female pilots at this Sullenberger Aviation Museum event.  There’s also a focus on The Ninety-Nines, an international organization of female pilots dedicated to promoting and advancing women in aviation.  (Saturday, March 22 at 1:00pm; 4108 Minuteman Way, Charlotte, NC)
