We’re only a month into summer vacation, and you might be running out of ideas as to how to keep the kids entertained.  Fear not!  Here’s some ideas for kid-friendly activities in the Charlotte area, perfect for the hot days ahead:

ImaginOn:  The Joe and Joan Martin Center:  There’s a cute exhibit called Curious George:  Let’s Get Curious! This exhibit will be open from now through August 23rd, in addition to all the other fun things to do at the center.

Discovery Place Science:  Shark Week will take place from July 20-26, and there’s a great interactive exhibit called Ocean Xperience.

SeaLife Aquarium:  The Great Pirates and Mermaids Adventure is available each weekend from now through August 3rd.  There’s also the permanent displays such as the Tropical Ocean Exhibit and the Interactive Touchpool.

The Ivy Place:  Pick-your-own isn’t just reserved for apples!  At this farm, you can pick berries during the summer as well as flowers…good news for my kids, who love to pick flowers from places that they’re not supposed to!

Summer Movie Series:  My kids have LOVED going to the summer movie series at Regal Cinemas as well as the Gem Theatre in Kannapolis.  AMC Theatres are also showing movies throughout the summer at a deeply discounted rate.  Most tickets are between $1-$3 and the screenings are in the morning.  Check out the links provided for specific movies, days, and times.

Water, Water, Everywhere:  When in doubt, go to the water!  We’ve got a great list of (mostly free) splash pads in the area as well as lake spots and waterparks.
